Categorization Issues

  1. Basic question about taxonomy unanswered anywhere. Taxonomy PDF doc doesn't match what you find under merchant account > CPC Program > Browse by Category > See all Products. There isn't even a "See all products" link which is indicated in the knowledgedatabase... I fall under the Home & Garden > Garden > Swimming Pool and Spa Supplies category & there are a number of subcategories I can browse to on the public shopping.com site. So can I use these subcategories in my feed or do I have to stick to the worthless taxonomy doc, WHICH DOESN'T EVEN LIST Home and Garden > Garden!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Where's an e-mail address, I definitely wouldn't expect a phone number (none of the big CSE's bother with that anymore), how about at least a form submission that goes no where & I at least feel like I was able to submit an issue??

More disturbing is the HORRIBLE organization & seemingly amature development of this WORTHLESS Support Center from the top down. Knowledgebase results sorted in no manner whatsoever (try relevancy, maybe??). On support center home under Knowledgedatabase, "be sure to check here before submitting a request for a Merchant Account Specialist." Submit a request??? HA!! How am I supposed to submit a request again... Good job Shopping.com, way to alienate your merchants!

To submit a ticket, click the link that says "Submit a New Support Ticket":

An updated version of the taxonomy document:
    http://na2.salesforce.com/servlet/servlet.FileDownloadPkb?file=00P40000001zBpN&orgId=00D300000000AEM&pPid=501300000000SOo

Although our taxonomy is updated on a daily basis, our taxonomy documents are not updated as frequently. This is why it is very important to check the available categorization on site, as well as the competition's product listings:

All initial product sorting is performed by MPN, product name and product descriptions. It becomes a best practice to find a merchant already accurately categorized on site with listings similar to your own in order to copy their product names and descriptions, especially when considering the "Home and Garden" and "Clothing and Accessories" parent categories.

Please note that if you attempt to use the taxonomy information in this document or on site in the category column in your feed file, you will have to coordinate with one of our support representatives. Our system by default ignores this column and only prioritizes it once we deem it neccessary.

    I hope this helps!

Actually this is a good topic related to product categorization.

I'm not quite understanding how one would find "accurately categorized" items on the site and how you determine which the best category to place products.

Could you provide some best practices when determining which category a product should be placed in?

    Thanks

The solution below states the best method for categorizing your products. Just search for it on Shopping.com. The search results will tell you the different categories that it is located within and you can use the category with the most relevant results or the highest number of results as your category match.

Once you find the product, copy its name and description from the Product Details page and use it in your feed. If your product has an MPN or UPC code, copy the MPN/UPC from the Product Details page and paste it in your feed as well. This process should resolve your categorization issues once and for all.

For my product, the problem isn't finding the appropriate category, it's having that category approved and released. I've been stalled in the "remapping" phase for over 1 day now, even though it says it can take "up to one hour"

Your issue will need to be resolved via a case. Please use the Knowledge base to submit a case concerning your issue if this happens again in the future.

I have submitted my case at least 3 times and have been totally ignored. I have 175 items that no matter how I catagorize them they never get listed correctly. So they just sit there miscatagorized. Also, they upped my minimum payment from $25 to $100 and when I inquire about it I again am totally ignored.

After re-categorizing many of the products within the feed, there are some that need attention but must manually be remapped within the feed. Unfortunately, at least where the "Kitchen" category is concerned, Shopping.com doesn't display which items need attention. Without this information, we cannot take action on remapping these trouble products. How can we get this information?

I would like to see your manual remapping tool enabled. I have been trying to correctly categorize my book from "Miscellaneous" to "Books->Biographies" without any success. Please enable your manual remapping tool so I can list my book within your book listings.

    Thank you!

I have big issues with categorization as well...over 1200 products flagged as "Must be remapped within feed," despite the fact that we're correctly using their taxonomy document. And Shopping.com NEVER answers my tickets.

    Shopping.com Case Number (00194674) - Urgent; Can't find our product 468614

The service is very poor, we posted for 5 weeks & keep remapping for at least 7 times. But each time we return it show up as the product "need attention".

In remapping tool we can't find our brand "RamblewoodGreen" to select.

We are in Amazon/Nextag/Shopzilla/Yahoo, yet this site does not allow us to post even the $100 was charged 5 weeks ago.

We type in key word "gas cooktop" or "induction Cooktop" in search & our product did NOT show up.

    Please support.
