Most Common Optimization Tips

These are our most common Optimization tips that we find are always in need of improvement. 

*Feed Freshness

Make sure feeds are up-to-date with accurate prices, functioning product URL's, images, shipping costs, stock availability, MPN/UPC codes and relevant product names and descriptions.

*Live Bids

Double check the status of your bids in the Merchant Account Center.  Are your bids live in all necessary categories?

*Promotional Text

Take advantage of the Stock Description field in the data feed and include promotional text for structured/hard products (e.g. “Free Shipping, Arrives on Time for Christmas, Ships in 24 Hrs”).

*Return Policy

Make sure to update the Store Info tab in the Merchant Account Center with your return policy.  When shoppers were asked what the most important aspect is of online shopping, they said “understanding the return policy”.

*Correct MPN/UPC codes

Shopping.com maps products by MPN/UPC codes when available.  Make sure the correct codes are in your feed and refrain from using internal codes. 

NOTE: MPNs can be found on site by clicking on the “Product details” link from a product page.

*Use our attributes

A common mistake most merchants make is not including common search terms (or attributes) in the product names and descriptions.  Product names should follow a structure of “Brand Adjective Adjective Noun” and include our attributes in the product description.  Promotional text in the description reduces relevancy!

 *Gift Cards

With the rising sales of gift cards, Shopping.com recently launched a new Gift Card category on site.  Add gift cards to your feed, which should range in value from $10-500.  The category CPC is $0.25. 

*ROI Tracker

Add the ROI Tracker to gain more insight into your campaign.  The ROI Tracker enables you to gain granular level insight to your campaign when viewing our Category and Product Performance Reports.  Merchants with the ROI Tracker will get the full benefits from Value-Based Pricing model!

*Product Performance Reports

With the Product Performance Report, take advantage of this tool to optimize your campaign.  New updates include displaying site wide clicks, your share of clicks and net return. 

NOTE: To fully benefit from Product Performance Report you will need to have the Shopping.com Full ROI Tracker implemented.
